I saw this wedding pic blog hop on the adorable AllisonO’s blog O My Family, and while I have shared about our wedding before (complete with photos), I figured it never hurts to share more. Y’all don’t mind, right?
(All photos by Todd Pellowe.)
Aaron and I got married on a gorgeous May day in 2008 at the historic Don CeSar Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach, Fla. Since I was still living in Atlanta, and Aaron was already in Minnesota, and our family was spread out across Ohio, Texas, Arizona and Minnesota (and friends everywhere!), we figured why not get married on the beautiful Gulf Coast?
As soon as I saw the Don (in a Florida weddings magazine), I knew it was where I wanted to get married. Pink! History! Classic!
It was built in 1924 and has quite the history. (Even serving as a VA hospital for a time after WWII.) They’d renovated it and added a wing (with a spa) in 2007/early 2008, so the rooms were nice and new when we were there.
There were only a few things that I was really picky about, and flowers were one of them. I had a specific idea for my bouquet, and I am happy to say the reality blew my vision out of the water. I wish there were a way to keep a bouquet fresh and beautiful forever, because throwing it away a week later was tough to do. (In fact, I just laid it on the side of a trash can, because I could not make myself actually throw it away!)
First Look. I love the groomsmen watching out the door. (And my goofy expression!)
Since Aaron and I saw each other before the ceremony, I noticed he had a ton of stuff in his pockets. Of course I made him empty them and give the contents to the wedding coordinator, but not before Todd took a picture of everything he’d been lugging around!
Aaron and his guys …
Me and my girls …
Waiting to walk down the aisle. (I also loved the bridesmaids’ bouquets. The pink was perfect!)
The mothers all had bouquets too. The flowers were my thing!
The little boys did such a great job, and after the chaotic rehearsal, I was worried. Michael carried that stuffed puppy halfway down the aisle before turning and handing it to a guest.
The vows …
After the ceremony we went out and took some pictures on the beach …
This is the image we have as a canvas in our bedroom …
We had 6 of these short centerpieces and 3 tall ones, but I don’t have pro pictures of the tall ones. The tables were all named after something meaningful to us, including our four dogs. (Hence the “Montego” table!)
The seafood bar. Aaron still talks about that shrimp!
Little Sylvie was an honorary bridesmaid …
Teri, Me & Al (and Syl!) …
College Roomies!
My works friends, getting down …
Aaron & The Roger. By this point in the night, the place had pretty much cleared out. It was just a few of our wedding party (and their SOs) plus my mom! She hung in there till the wee end. (The Roger had also commandeered the DJ’s mic by this time and was performing pseudo-karaoke.)
The end of the night:
